As we are approaching the half of 2017, the first analyses on Liechtenstein’s economy during this period of time show a good track of the economy. Exports have grown and industrial companies are positive about the business climate in Liechtenstein and the Office of Statistics also reported a moderate growth of the economy during the first 4 months of this year. Commodities exports on the rise compared to last year

Trading companies in Liechtenstein reported the highest growth since the beginning of the year, according to the Office of Statistics, as commodities exports have increased by 1.1% during the first quarter of 2017 compared to the same period of last year. Speaking of exports, on a year-to-year basis, companies have reported a 4% increase in export orders. Also, nine of ten companies operating in the metal and non-metal sector are satisfied with the economic and business climate during the first quarter of this year and the manufacturing industry is one of the best rated segments of Liechtenstein’s economy. Even if slowly, the construction sector is also starting to pick up the pace.

An outlook on Liechtenstein’s economy for the rest of the year

The report released by the Liechtenstein Office of Statistics also forwarded a few number for the coming period of time showing exports could go up by 2.3% in the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) area and by 3.3% on a global level. The financial sector is also expected to perform better given the rising interest of foreign fintech companies looking to set up operations in Liechtenstein.

The unemployment rate is also expected to go down by a few more points in the next several months. At the time of the survey, Liechtenstein had one of the lowest unemployment rates in Europe. In 2016 employment rose by 2%, a figure which has remained stable since the beginning of 2017 and predictions show it will continue to stay like that.
