Liechtenstein Economy to Follow a Positive Trend in 2017

Written by: Bridgewest

2017 is predicted to be a good one for the Liechtenstein economy, according to the National Office of Statistics which requested local companies’ input on the industry and production. Most Liechtenstein companies declared they were satisfied with the economy at the end of 2016 and are positive about 2017. If you are interested in starting a business in the Principality, our Liechtenstein company formation consultants can help you.

Liechtenstein companies’ position with respect to the economy

At the end of 2016, the National Office of Statistics put together a questionnaire in which 44 companies in the major industries in Liechtenstein were asked about their results at the end of the year and also asked them to rate the economy for 2017. 27% of the companies declared the business climate as a good one, while two-thirds of them were satisfied with their results and only 7% rated them as bad.

When asked about how they would see 2017, company executives announced “positive trends in capacity utilization, order intake and revenue”. The labor market will also register positive results this year. The companies participating to the survey represent 70% of the industrial sector of the economy and also employ 30% of the country’s active population.

The most prolific industries in Liechtenstein in 2017

Apart from the financial sector, which is the engine of Liechtenstein’s economy, the survey focused on the metal and non-metal industries. Representatives of the metals sectors are by far the most optimistic ones, as 44% of them rated the business environment a good one. They are expecting an increase in orders, therefore in exports. In the non-metal industry, 9 out of 10 companies are satisfied with the results registered in the precedent year and are not expecting any significant changes in the first quarter of 2017. However, Liechtenstein companies in the non-metal sectors are also expecting a slight growth in the export numbers.
